SHOWCASE SITE OF MAHAZINA

During the era of royalty, the village harbored a sacred place. Today, it is a revered holy land and houses warnings from the ancestors on the largest tree located in the center of the village. Hence its name, Mahazina, which is a combination of two Malagasy words:

MASINA + ZINA.

It is taboo to consume or even anoint this tree with pig oil, for fear of attracting bad luck and curses.
